The UCSB Library is pleased to announce the arrival of Denise Stephens, our new University Librarian.

She comes to us from the University of Kansas, where she has held several positions including Strategic and Organizational Research Librarian, Vice Provost for Information Services, and Chief Information Officer.  Her administrative experience also includes terms as Acting University Librarian and Associate University Librarian for Public Services at Syracuse University.

Denise has published in the area of organizational development and leadership in libraries and has served on numerous library and information technology advisory boards.

“I am humbled and excited to join you as University Librarian at a time of great challenge and equally great opportunity.  The positive interactions I shared with the Library staff and stakeholders during my recent visit convinced me UCSB is a very special place. I am proud to know I’ll soon be a part of your wonderful community.”
