THE HEARST LEGACY – AN INSIDER’S LOOK WITH TAYLOR COFFMAN
Friends of the UCSB Library Annual Luncheon & Meeting
About Taylor Coffman:
Former UCSB student Taylor Coffman is a self-made scholar. For thirty
years, he has been functioning, as he likes to put it, as “an
accidental archivist, a historian by default.”
His main subjects of study have focused on William Randolph Hearst and
San Simeon. Recently he has collaborated with Will Hearst, grandson of
“the old man himself,” to develop a symposium entitled “Hearst, Marion
Davies & the Film Industry” at the Huntington Library. During this talk, he
will ell us about the extraordinarily diverse realm of Hearstiana—an
insider’s look at the books, the libraries, the art, the archives.
