What we’re reading:
Field Notes from a Catastrophe: Man, Nature, and Climate Change
By Elizabeth Kolbert
Thursday April 12, Noon
Mary Cheadle Room, 3rd floor, Davidson Library
With Professor Josh Schimel, ES Program Chair,
Professor Bruce Tiffney, Dean of CCS, and
Katie Maynard, Sustainability Coordinator
The nature of global warming and its impacts present fascinating questions and
discussion issues, and Kolbert discusses them from a very knowledgeable
background. She challenges us to carefully consider our impact and our role in
creating change. Topics for discussion include the issues raised in the book,
the science and politics behind them, and questions about how to proceed in the
future. What can we do collectively and individually to make a change? Join in
the conversation, bringing your own perspectives to the discussion.
