"Trees" by Charles Hobson
The UCSB Library is proud to announce the addition of its three millionth volume. Our newest volume is an artist’s book that challenges the traditional idea of a “book.”
Charles Hobson’s elegant book is a beautiful and sophisticated work of art and literature that showcases the poem “Trees” by W. S. Merwin. It incorporates elements of both classic and cutting-edge book design, photography, and creative use of light.
This is a work that must be seen to be appreciated. It will be on exhibit in our Department of Special Collections (Davidson Library, 3rd floor) on a limited basis.
Artist Charles Hobson will be giving a public lecture on campus on Wednesday, November 10 at 4 pm in the State Street Room at the UCEN.
For more information about the book, see the artist’s website.
